Welcome. My name is Ellis H. Wilson III, hence the "v3," but you can just call me Ellis. This is my homepage, so I'm going to go ahead and assume you came here to find out more about me. In that case:

I love to research, design, engineer, debug, and deliver exciting and often complicated things that improve people's lives. Companies. Next-generation computer storage components. Software of (almost) all varieties. Elegant yet lightweight websites. Even a few gadgets that aren't merely made up of or designed to manipulate bits. Following finishing my Ph.D. in August of 2014, I began employment as a Software Engineer at a great company, Panasas, Inc, in Pittsburgh, PA, USA where I also live.

But I'm not simply "all work and no play," as evidenced in my pictures. Physically Addressed Queueing (PAQ): Improving Parallelism in Solid State Disks

NAND flash storage has proven to be a competitive alternative to traditional disk for its properties of high random-access speeds, low-power and its presumed efficacy for random-reads. Ironically, we demonstrate that when packaged in SSD format, there arise many barriers to reaching full parallelism in reads, resulting in random writes outperforming them.
